1) YAAP Anniversary Conference
We are very pleased to announce that Professor Gilles Cuniberti, University of Luxembourg, will hold the keynote speech on
"Is Default Arbitration the Future of
International Commercial Dispute Resolution?"
Professor Cuniberti will present the idea of "default arbitration models“ and defend his thesis that arbitration should become the default mode of resolution of international commercial disputes. Two distinguished speakers (tbc) will discuss this proposition, to be followed by a hopefully lively debate with the audience.
The Anniversary Conference is tradtionally preceded by the YAAP Annual Meeting and the ArbAut Annual Meeting. Thanks to VIAC as host of the venue and the cocktail reception offered by YAAP, the event is free of charge.

2) Call for Applications as YAAP Advisory Members
As you are likely aware, the YAAP Advisory Board consists of seven members. Each member stays in this function until she or he either resigns or reaches the age of 40. Current members of the Advisory Board are Filip Boras, Eliane Fischer, Christian Koller, Patrizia Netal, Philipp Peters, Markus Schifferl and Valentina Wong.
For a term of two years, two members of the Advisory Board are appointed as YAAP Co-Chairs who take care of the day-to-day business of YAAP.
Beginning with January 2018, two positions within the Advisory Board of YAAP will become vacant.
We therefore invite interested YAAP Members to become actively involved in YAAP and apply for the vacant positions. Your application should consist of a short letter of motivation and a CV and put emphasis on the following criteria:
- practical experience and/or academic expertise in international arbitration
- willingness and availability to engage in organizing and developing of YAAP strategies, events and other projects
- preferably past involvement in YAAP activities

3) Austrian Arbitration Academy
The Austrian Arbitration Academy of the University of Vienna offers the 2nd edition of "Arbitration Rules in Practice" in cooperation with SHS, VIAC, ArbAut and YAAP. The course takes place in Vienna from 16 to 18 January 2018, immediately preceding the
Vienna Arbitration Days. In the past, the Bar Association of Vienna has recognized eight credits ("Halbtage") for this training seminar. The time period for applications has been extended until
15 November 2017. For further details see the attached flyer.
