REVIEW: YAAP Round Table special – Third Party Funding: “Grill” the Funders, Vienna, 28 October 2019
Our special Round Table featured representatives from two major third party funders,
Christiane Deniger (Burford) and
Jonathan Barnett (Nivalion). Christiane and Jonathan answered tricky questions from moderator
Leon Kopecky as well as from the floor. What is the relationship between the funder, parties and counsel in managing the dispute? Will the funder exercise influence in the way the case is pleaded? How will the funders assess the success chances of a dispute - and what will they typically look for in a case?
These issues and many more were discussed during a lively panel debate. We continued the exchange until late over snacks drinks, which were generously hosted by Burford and Nivalion.
