*** PAST YAAP EVENTS IN NOVEMBER ***

30 November 2023: below40@Vierländer-Konferenz

We are still over the moon from the impressions of last week’s below40-event at the occasion of the Vierländer-Konferenz in Vienna. YAAP, DIS40, ASAbelow40 and colleagues from Liechtenstein came together to discuss issues of enforcement of arbitral awards in the German-speaking region. It was a great pleasure to host and (re)connect with so many young arbitration practitioners from our German-speaking neighbouring countries. A special thanks goes to our YAAP Advisory Board Member Alexander Zollner, who took the lead of the event’s organisation on behalf of YAAP.

22 November 2023: YAAP Roundtable – “(Old) News Relating to the Conclusion of Arbitration Agreements”

Our last YAAP Roundtable of 2023 closed with an interesting discussion on the topic of arbitration agreements. Our speaker, Alexander Zollner (Wolf Theiss, Vienna) discussed various challenges that can be faced when concluding an arbitration agreement, for example when it comes to consumer protection or concluding arbitration agreements by using new technologies. We thank Alexander for his practical insights on this topic and for all YAAP Members who joined us this evening.

8 November 2023: YRAP-VIAC-YAAP Annual Conference – “New Horizons in Construction Arbitration”

Another of our highlights in November 2023 included the second edition of our joint event in Bucharest with the Young Romanian Arbitration Practitioners (YRAP) and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC). The conference focused on construction arbitration and emphasised the significant impact of global events like the pandemic and climate change on the construction sector, leading to increased costs and supply chain issues. It also highlighted the need for flexibility and cooperation in construction arbitration to adapt to these changes and focus on sustainability and efficiency. We very much enjoyed the insightful discussions.  A big thank you to our co-organisers YRAP and VIAC and kudos to our YAAP Advisory Board Member Stephanie Rohmann (Baker McKenzie, Vienna) who represented YAAP in Bucharest.
