Rita specializes in public international law and investment and commercial arbitration. She has been a member of the counsel team and has acted as tribunal secretary in proceedings under various institutional arbitration rules (ICSID, ICC, VIAC, UNCITRAL, DIAC, FAI and sui generis). She has specific experience in disputes relating to construction, energy, manufacturing and shareholder agreements.
She started her career in The Bahamas diplomatic service where she was engaged in International Human Rights Law and sat on The Bahamas National Committee for Trafficking in Persons. Later, specialized as an International Trade Advisor, she established and led a Trade Agreement Implementation Unit and negotiated agreements bilaterally and multilaterally.
Rita is Vice-Chair of R.E.A.L. (Racial Equality for Arbitration Lawyers) Newsletter & Blog Committee, Regional Representative for Western Europe for Young ICCA and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). Along with a legal internship at UNCITRAL, Rita holds an MBA and has experience in International Trade Policy and Law.
