Dear Members of Arb|Aut,
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our long-standing member Marko Szucsich on 20 February 2026.
Marko was a valued member of Arb|Aut and a respected figure within the Austrian arbitration community. As an attorney and arbitrator, he was known for his expertise in arbitration, commercial and real estate law, as well as for his exceptional linguistic and cultural fluency. Born in 1963 into a Burgenland-Croatian family, he studied law at the University of Vienna and continued his academic path at the Moscow State Lomonosov University. His profound knowledge of Eastern Europe and his command of several languages made him a sought-after arbitrator in complex cross-border disputes.
Marko’s commitment extended well beyond his professional work. For decades, he supported the Burgenland-Croatian minority and dedicated 30 years of voluntary service to the Integrationshaus, most recently as Chairman of its Board. His engagement reflected his deep sense of responsibility, integrity and humanity.
With Marko’s passing, the Arb|Aut community has lost a distinguished colleague and loyal member. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
He will be greatly missed.
