In 2026, two anniversaries come together:
YAAP turns 22, and
Austria's arbitration law reform, the implementation of the UNCITRAL Model Law, marks its 20th year. Reason enough for a very special evening.
And the timing could hardly be better: our anniversary evening sets the stage for a full programme in Vienna – the Vienna Arbitration Days 2026, followed by GAR Exchange: Vienna – and offers the ideal way to arrive in good company.

Keynote | Prof. Paul Oberhammer, University of Vienna
Few have shaped Austrian arbitration law over the past two decades as closely as
Professor Oberhammer. In his keynote, he will trace the arc of these twenty years – from the ambitions behind the reform to what it has actually delivered in practice – and then turn to the next twenty: where Vienna stands in an increasingly competitive field of arbitral seats, which questions the legislator has left unanswered, and what the coming generation of practitioners should be preparing for.
In conversation with YAAP’s founding members
We are particularly delighted that several of YAAP's founding members will join us, among them
Alice Fremuth-Wolf, Florian Haugeneder, Werner Jahnel, Christian Konrad and Stefan Riegler. In a candid exchange, YAAP's founding members – today established figures in the arbitration community – will share what they set out to build back in 2004, which of their early assumptions proved wrong, the moments that changed the direction of their careers – and the advice they wish someone had given them at the start. Just as importantly, they will share hard-won, practical lessons for the next generation: how to establish oneself in the field, build a client base, and navigate the arbitration process with confidence.
The evening continues with a get-together in the historic setting of the Ballhaus – to celebrate, catch up and meet the people behind two decades of Austrian arbitration.
